ABOUT

My name is Melissa and I created this blog for the same reason a lot of my peers do - it is for a class.

I could've made my blog about cats! Why would I make a blog about "inspiring"? The answer is simpler than you think - "Those who can't do, teach."
In all seriousness, I end up looking at Pinterest more often than I would like to admit, trying to find habits of CEO's or what Martha Stewart was doing in her 20's or Abe Lincoln's unsent letters. I am currently reading "How to Win Friends and Influence People" and it touches on a lot of points I find interesting and incredibly applicable in every interpersonal situation.
With all that being said, I have found it challenging to find a blog with a diverse range of people, ideas and places that inspire or peak my curiosity, and many less that offer direct and free resources on the content. It is the bane of my existence to click on a link to be directed to another link that tells me I need to pay 1.99$ to access the materials on this website for a day. I have stumbled across far more free resources that have great quality information with ease of use that not a lot of people know about.
I feel that anyone can teach themselves anything if they want to learn. I have personally found it irritating to be led astray in some matters and without the knowledge or resources, I become resentful and disinterested. I do not want anyone else to feel that way regarding education.
There is a beautiful quote that speaks worlds to me
"Never let schooling get in the way of your education."

About me
Now that's out of the way, my name is Melissa. I am currently 22 years old, in college and I am a property manager for my father. I have two cats and one incredibly spoiled canine. I was an avid reader in elementary school - I was reading Little Women, Moby Dick, White Fang etc when I was in 3rd grade. I stopped reading when I discovered AdultSwim - which was a network hosted by Cartoon Network with shows like Family Guy and Futurama. I was a decent writer and like most kids in high school, I could get away with a B+ paper without finishing the book. I was in an ancient history class and I found my love for history my freshman year in high school. I hated mostly everything else. I was admitted to college at University of Houston and found myself surrounded by my peers who wanted to learn. I participated in engaging conversations about current events, economics, religion, history, and the sciences. My mind opened and I was in love with physics. I was never good at math, so I was generally well versed in Biology and a little Chemistry, but physics scared me. I did not know where to start - you can't exactly expect to pass a physics class with terrible math skills. I found a couple online resources and was able to broaden my knowledge (and realizing my lack thereof) by discussing with people over the internet and in my daily life. I left UH when I started having medical problems and was put on treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is chemotherapy - only in smaller doses. Moved into one of my dad's properties and went back to school, and here I am!
